These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of guessthedate.app (the "Site") and the Guess The Date game (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
The Service is operated under the name "Guess The Date". You can contact us at hello@guessthedate.app.
Guess The Date is a free daily history guessing game. We may release new puzzles, features, and content from time to time, and we may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice.
The Service is intended for users aged 13 and over. If you are under the age of 13, you may not create an account or submit personal data to the Site. If you are between 13 and 18, you confirm that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the Service.
You agree not to:
We may remove content, reset scores, or close accounts that breach these rules.
Names, profile slugs, challenge details, and other content you submit ("User Content") remain yours. By submitting User Content you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, and use it as needed to operate the Service (for example, showing your name on the leaderboard). You are responsible for the User Content you submit and confirm you have the right to submit it.
All content on the Site that is not User Content — including the game design, puzzles, clues, copy, code, logos, and branding — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may use the Service for personal, non-commercial enjoyment. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without our prior written consent.
The Service is currently free to use and does not offer paid features. If we introduce paid features in future, they will be governed by additional terms presented at point of purchase.
We display third-party advertising on the Site (via Google AdSense). We are not responsible for the content, products, or services of advertisers, and your dealings with them are between you and the advertiser.
We aim to keep the Service available but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or withdraw the Service (in whole or part) for maintenance, security, or operational reasons, with or without notice.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties, including those of satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Historical content is provided for entertainment and may contain inaccuracies — do not rely on it for academic or professional purposes.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
Subject to the above, to the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable to you for:
Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to £100.
You agree to indemnify us against any claims, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your User Content, or your misuse of the Service.
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if you breach these Terms, or close the Service for any reason. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including IP, liability, and governing law) will continue to apply.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
If you are a consumer in the UK, you have certain statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 that cannot be excluded. Nothing in these Terms affects those rights.
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers based in Scotland or Northern Ireland may also bring proceedings in their local courts.
